The Kansas City Chiefs will be without one of their top defensive players for today’s AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, linebacker Willie Gay is inactive with a neck injury. This is a key loss for the Chiefs, because Gay may have been deployed as a “spy” on Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson, as Schefte noted.
Gay suffered his neck injury in last week’s Divisional Round victory over the Buffalo Bills and did not return. The 25-year-old finished that game with three tackles, including one for a loss.
In the regular season, Gay had one interception, four pass defenses, three fumble recoveries, one sack and 58 combined tackles.
