Defensive Lineman Chris Jones, who’s currently in a contract holdout with the Kansas City Chiefs, came to last night’s game with an interesting choice of apparel.
Sighted in the stands with his agents in the front row, Jones showed up to Arrowhead Stadium for the season opener against the Detroit Lions in a Seattle Seahawks jersey. Jones, who has played his entire career with the Chiefs, is in the midst of what is potentially his final big payday and is using the Championship celebration as a backdrop for leverage.
The Chiefs lost a close home game to the Lions 21-20, where Detroit’s offensive line set the tone for a statement win. Jones’ interior pressure was certainly missed this game, as he could’ve helped pressure Quarterback Jared Goff and stifle a potent Detroit running game, which adds to his leverage.
His Seahawks hat is a likely reference to the trade rumors surrounding the Lineman as the Seahawks are a potential trade partner, should the trade happen.
Jones watched a hard-fought game from the front row, as his team lost, but as one of the 10 best defenders in football, this loss could be his gain.
