The Kansas City Chiefs have revealed that they will be without one of their starters in Week 15 as he’s gone under the knife.
Head coach Andy Reid told reporters as much this Friday as he disclosed that running back Isaiah Pacheco underwent a surgical procedure to “clean up” an issue in his right shoulder.
The RB was not available when the Chiefs played the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday, having previously registered 110 rushing yards on 18 carries in Week 13. The team expects to have him back for their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day, however.
“We anticipate getting him back next week,” Reid said, per The Athletic’s Nate Taylor. “He did the walkthrough with us. He should be back.”
Pacheco has been brilliant for the Chiefs this season. He’s totaled 779 rushing yards, 209 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. His absence against Buffalo in Week 14 was a sore point as the defending Super Bowl champions lost a second straight game.
Reid will have to rely on Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon against Las Vegas this Sunday.
