Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is nursing an injury, having sustained a high ankle sprain after a scary collision against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday. But he wants to play in the AFC Championship Game, and Kansas City Chiefs fans want to see him start as well.
Mahomes was against being taken out of the game and returned to finish it, suggesting he’s going to play this Sunday if the decision is left up to him. According to head coach Andy Reid, that’s exactly what the case is.
“He’s going to play. That’s his mindset,” Reid was quoted as saying by The Athletic’s Nate Taylor.
It appears Mahomes will play unless the pain becomes unbearable. The Chiefs’ offensive line will have to work extra hard as they can’t risk their QB getting hit and possibly aggravating the injury.
That’s easier said than done, though, considering the way the Cincinnati Bengals got to Josh Allen on Sunday. They will certainly have their work cut out for them
