Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney took one last shot at his former team via Twitter before deleting the tweet.
On Thursday, the New York Giants traded the 2021 first-round pick to the Chiefs in exchange for third and sixth-round draft choices. There was a lot of excitement around Toney when he joined New York, but the team never found a way to get him involved in their offense.
Toney indicated in a tweet, which has since been deleted, that he’s not dealing with a hamstring injury anymore. You can see a screenshot of the deleted tweet below:
New York drafted Toney 20th overall last season. The Giants acquired the pick from the Chicago Bears, who traded up so they could snag Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields with the No. 11 selection.
Injuries limited Toney to 10 games last season. He finished the season with 39 receptions for 420 yards. Toney appeared in just two games this season with the Giants, dealing with the aforementioned hamstring injury.
Under first-year GM Joe Schoen, the Giants haven’t wasted any time in moving on from some of Dave Gettleman’s expensive signings or draft picks. Schoen released Logan Ryan, James Bradberry and Kyle Rudolph, and now he’s traded away Toney.

The Giants have been one of the biggest surprises of 2022, winning six of their first seven games which is good enough for the second-best record in the NFC.
Under Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have made it a priority to add speedsters in their offense. Tyreek Hill may be gone, but now Mahomes has Toney and 2022 free agent pickup Marquez Valdes-Scantling as his speedy threats.
The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 44-23 in Week 7 to move to 5-2 on the season. They’re on their bye this week and will return to the field for a Week 9 home showdown against the Tennessee Titans.
