Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has delivered a troubling update on star wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
The Vikings haven’t had the wideout available since Week 5 as he’s been on the Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury. Speaking to reporters this weekend, O’Connell suggested Jefferson isn’t likely to be back just yet as he has no information on his progress.
He offered a similar outlook on quarterback Nick Mullens.
“I do not have that information as of right now,” the HC remarked, per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert. “I think we’re going to have some end-of-week assessments and see where those guys are at and we’ll continue those on into the next week, and when the time’s right to get those windows opened up, we’ll do that and get those guys back practicing again.”
Jefferson has registered 571 yards on 36 receptions in five games this season and has averaged well-nigh 60 yards per catch.
Minnesota is in a real bind at the moment, having also lost starting quarterback Kirk Cousins to an Achilles injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
