Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson provided an encouraging injury update ahead of the club’s Week 12 Monday night home game against the Chicago Bears.
Per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, Jefferson said he’s “unsure” about playing on Monday, but he will suit up as long as he’s “feeling good.” The reigning Offensive Player of the Year hasn’t played since Week 5 as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury.
“I’m not sure, Jefferson said. “We’ll see. We still have more days to practice and really evaluate everything. We’re going to weigh the options correctly, making sure that I’m feeling well and prepared to play a game, and if I’m feeling good I will play.”
The Vikings’ season looked over after Jefferson was placed on the injured reserve. Their Week 5 home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs dropped Minnesota to 1-4 on the year, and the high-powered offense wasn’t living up to its potential at the time of Jefferson’s injury.
But the Vikings have gone 6-1 ever since, despite losing starting quarterback Kirk Cousins for the season with a torn Achilles back in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers. Minny traded for journeyman Josh Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals, and he’s led the NFC North club to a 2-1 record since his arrival.
Minnesota enters Week 12 in a postseason berth with a 6-5 record. Coming off a Sunday night loss to the Denver Broncos last week, Minny has a manageable schedule with only two games remaining against a winning team (both against the Detroit Lions).
