Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward is still blasting today after he was seen hitting a defenseless Justin Herbert while on the ground.
In the fourth quarter, Herbert found an open lane and scrambled out of the pocket when Heyward began to pursue him. Heyward tackled Herbert from behind but stayed on top of him. When Chargers teammate Joshua Palmer tried to get him off, Heyward pushed him away, rolled Herbert over on his back, and punched him in the stomach.
Instead of speaking on the incident, the broadcasters commended Heyward for his effort while Herbert’s teammates, including the quarterback himself, didn’t retaliate for the hit and the officials didn’t think much of it either.
When asked about the play, the second-year signal-caller took the high road.
“I haven’t really seen it,” Herbert told reporters. “He’s a tough player. Football is an emotional game. Whatever happened, happened in the game. We’ll shake hands and say, ‘Good game,’ after the game.”

Heyward did receive a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. We’ll have to wait and see if the NFL steps in.
Herbert finished with 382 yards through the air and three touchdowns in the win.
