The Los Angeles Chargers’ ugly Week 14 home loss to the Denver Broncos essentially ended any remaining postseason hopes they had.
Soon after the loss, the final dagger in their season was confirmed by head coach Brandon Staley.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Staley announced that superstar quarterback Justin Herbert fractured the right index finger in his throwing hand. With only four games remaining, Herbert’s 2023 season is potentially over.
Herbert suffered the injury in the second quarter against the Broncos. He finished the day with nine completions on 17 pass attempts for 96 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
The 24-17 loss dropped the Bolts to 5-8 on the season. They have already surpassed last year’s loss total (seven) and look poised to miss the postseason for the fourth time in five years.
