The Bears have arguably the most difficult decision of the offseason, deciding whether to stick with QB Justin Fields or drafting a rookie quarterback with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With speculation growing around what the Chicago Bears might do at No. 1, it’s what they might do with Justin Fields that is being spoken about months before the draft.
Justin Fields figures to have a trade market as the off-season approaches. We finally have one team mentioned by name.
Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported many within the NFL “connect” Fields and the Falcons, who will be in the market for a new quarterback this offseason.
“If that all tracks, expect the Bears to be able to fetch a premium pick for Fields, who came on late in the season and flashed the potential he’s always had. The kind of leader he is in the locker room stands out, as well. This should be an active market, with teams such as the Falcons, in need of a quarterback but possibly drafting too late (No. 8 overall) for a premium one, emerging as an option, along with any other team that doesn’t believe it can land a top QB in the draft,” the NFL Network reported.
Fields has flashed potential over his first three NFL seasons but has not been able to emerge as a consistent starter who can get the job done. He threw for 2,562 yards and 16 touchdowns against nine interceptions while rushing for 657 yards and four touchdowns.

Atlanta would certainly offer a chance for Fields to break out.
If they do trade Fields, many have them selecting USC QB Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick. Williams is the favorite to hear his name called first after throwing for 8,170 yards, 72 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions from 2022-23.
The 2023 Heisman Trophy finished his final season throwing for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns and rushing for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023.
