It’s only preseason, but Justin Fields’ play on Saturday should definitely excite Chicago Bears’ fans.
The 2021 first-round pick went out for two offensive drives in the Bears’ first preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. Fields final stat line? 3-of-3 for 129 yards, two touchdowns and 158.3 passer rating.
On just his second pass attempt of the game, Fields threw a short pass to new WR1 D.J. Moore, who took it 62 yards for a touchdown:
And then on the Bears’ ensuing drive? Fields’ short dump-off pass to running back Khalil Herbert wound up being a 56-yard touchdown:

It’s definitely a promising start for Fields, who may find himself out of a starting job if he doesn’t show improvement in 2022. But having Moore as his top receiver, as we saw in the play above, certainly bodes well for Fields’ development.
Last season, Fields completed 60.4 percent of pass attempts for 2,242 yards and 17 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He was more dynamic while running the football, finishing with 1,143 yards on the ground to go along with eight rushing scores.
