Justin Fields’ latest social media activity indicates that the Chicago Bears have informed him of their plans at quarterback this offseason.
Several fans on social media noted that the Bears’ quarterback is no longer following the team on his Instagram page.
Interpret that however you wish, but it’s certainly a strong indicator that Fields is moving forward with the expectation that the Bears will trade him.
The Bears hold the No. 1 pick via the Carolina Panthers, who gave up their 2024 first-round pick last year as part of the move up for Bryce Young. The Bears now have to decide between a) building around Fields or b) trading him and using the top pick on another quarterback.

If it’s the latter, they’ll presumably use it on USC quarterback and 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.
Fields pieced together the best season of his young NFL career in 2023 despite missing four games. The Ohio State product completed 61.4 percent of pass attempts for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions go along with 657 rushing yards and four rushing scores.
But it’s also easy to understand why the Bears may choose Williams (or another quarterback prospect) over Fields. Not only does Williams have higher upside, but the Bears would also enjoy the luxury of a franchise quarterback on his rookie deal for 4-5 years.
