The Chicago Bears have a difficult decision to make as they enter what should be another crucial offseason as they look to get out of the NFC North basement once and for all.
Last offseason, the Bears owned the first-overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, but they opted to trade it away for a giant haul and stick with the 11th overall pick from 2021, Justin Fields.
Now, as we head into the 2024 offseason, it looks like the Bears will have to make a similar decision: Stick with Fields, or use a top pick to draft their new franchise quarterback.
At the moment, the Bears own the first- and eighth-overall picks of the 2024 draft — with the former being the pick they obtained from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for the 2023 first-overall pick.
With generational prospect Caleb Williams available, there’s a growing belief that they could deal Fields and opt to move forward with Williams. If they decide to go that route, it’s believed that they can get a first-round pick in exchange for Fields, as several NFL teams are in desperate need of a new franchise QB.
Of course, there’s still the possibility that they stick with Fields and trade the first overall pick for another giant haul. That decision seemed to work out in their favor last time, as they came away with a slew of high-quality draft picks and superstar wideout DJ Moore.
