Justin Fields did not have a strong performance this week for the Chicago Bears, finishing the game just 16 of 29 through the air for 211 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. He also strayed away from what made him dangerous and only rushed four times for three yards.
He was not thrilled about his play.
During his press conference this week, Justin Fields opened up about his disappointing showing on Sunday and described his performance as “robotic.” When asked why that was, he stated it was ‘coaching.’
“My goal this week is to say, ‘F it — just play football,’” Fields said according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. “That’s when I play my best, when I’m out there being free. I’m going to go out there and be me.”

Baker Mayfield passed for 317 yards and a touchdown Sunday, adding to his strong debut with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a 27-17 victory over the struggling Chicago Bears. DJ Moore, acquired in the offseason in a bid to put more playmakers around Chicago’s young quarterback, had six receptions for 104 yards, but the Bears were limited to just 67 yards rushing.
Dating back to last season, the Bears have lost 12 straight games — the longest losing streak in franchise history. Things do not get any easier next week as they face the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Bears haven’t won a game since Week 7 last season against the New England Patriots. That game was on October 24, 2022. It’s been almost a year since the Bears have tasted victory.
