If Zach Wilson is wondering exactly what it takes to be a well-respected quarterback in the NFL, he may want to take some notes from fellow 2021 draftee Justin Fields.
By now you’ve all probably seen Zach Wilson’s postgame press conference following his team’s loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. You know, the one during which he refused to take any sort of accountability for the loss after his New York Jets offense scored a measly three points?
During that presser, Wilson was asked if he felt as though he had let his defense down after they limited the Patriots to just a field-goal and less than 300 total yards on the day in a losing effort. The answer that most people were probably looking for (including the Jets defenders) was a simply “yes.” But Wilson refused to take accountability.
That answer seems to have further fractured the relationship between Wilson and his teammates, according to reports.
Perhaps he should have acted more like Justin Fields, who reportedly stood up in front of the entire team following the Chicago Bears’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, and apologized for letting his defense down.

According to NFL insider Albert Breer, Fields told the team after their 27-24 loss that the defense gave the team a chance to win, but the offense couldn’t get it done.
What makes this story even more awesome is the fact that Fields’ defensive teammates actually stopped him midway through his apology to tell him that they’ve got his back.
The move by Field apparently earned him a ton of respect from his teammates, especially because of the fact that he was playing hurt.
And it’s not like Fields had a Zach Wilson-esque game, either. He finished the day with 153 passing yards, 85 rushing yards and two total touchdowns, while leading his team on four scoring drives (and another that resulted in a missed field-goal).
If Zach Wilson had that sort of game, he probably would have asked the entire defense to buy him a Rolex.
