Julian Edelman might feel at peace with his retirement from the NFL, but it would be nice to feel wanted.
The Tampa Bay Bucs were lacking heavily at wide receiver following Mike Evans’ suspension, so Edelman thought he might at least get a phone call from former New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady about reuniting in Tampa Bay. That never happened.
Instead, the Bucs added 33-year-old slot receiver Cole Beasley to their practice squad, with the expectation that he could join the 53-man roster ahead of Week 3.
Appearing on Inside the NFL with James Brown, Phil Simms and Michael Irvin, the former Super Bowl MVP said that he didn’t want to talk about Beasley signing with the Bucs. He lamented that he didn’t “get a call” from Brady or the Bucs about joining.
“I don’t want to talk about this. They just signed Cole Beasley,” Edelman said. “I didn’t get a call.”
Edelman doesn’t seem like he was actually upset. This was likely just for entertainment purposes while taking a jab at Tom Brady.

Back in April, Edelman announced his retirement from the NFL via his Twitter account:
Edelman has dealt with knee problems the past two seasons and while surgery has provided some temporary relief, but Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald says she’s told nothing can fix the underlying issue.
For his career, Edelman appeared in 137 games for the Patriots and caught 620 passes for 6,822 yards receiving and 36 touchdowns.
