Julian Edelman did not mince words when he recently discussed Aaron Rodgers’ unexcused absence from the Jets minicamp.
Edelman was a long-time teammate of Brady, so he knows what greatness at the quarterback position looks like and what it takes to become and stay a winner.
During an interview on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” Edelman used Brady as an example to talk about Aaron Rodgers.
The former New England Patriots receiver stated that his absence from the team is a “bad look.”
“I think it’s a bad look for your leader, for whatever reason, to go and miss [a mandatory minicamp],” Edelman said per Pro Football Talk. “I was with Tom Brady in his 25th year or 23rd year, and he started missing OTAs here and there, but he never missed a mandatory minicamp. I just thought it was a bad look.”
He continued on by saying that his own Jets teammates could question his leadership as a result of his actions.
“I’m a big Aaron Rodgers fan, but if I was in that locker room, and Aaron Rodgers wasn’t there for three days on the mandatory minicamp, having played four snaps off of an injury when we have two new receivers, a bunch of new linemen that we added to the team, with a CBA that doesn’t allow us to practice a lot, I guarantee there’s four or five guys — six, seven, eight, nine guys in that locker room — sitting there like, ‘Where’s he at?'” Edelman said.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Aaron Rodgers would not be taking part in the mandatory minicamp, according to coach Robert Saleh.
He added that he had an “event that was important to him.”
Rodgers is on track to enter this season at full strength, but Saleh told him that his absence would be considered unexcused. Skipping minicamp without an excused absence means players could face fines, according to the terms of the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement.
Despite his absence, Rodgers has been around the team facilities at various points throughout the offseason and was even on the practice field last month for organized team activities and arrived at the training facility to participate in team photos.
Fans Ripped Aaron Rodgers After Teammate Released Following Drug Charge
The New York Jets recently decided to release journeyman cornerback Tae Hayes after he was arrested in Alabama for possession of marijuana.
The timing of his release has raised eyebrows considering the substance habits of their star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers has been very open about his use of psychedelic drugs, particularly ayahuasca.
In 2022, he stated the drug gave him “a deep and meaningful appreciation for life” and “I came back and knew I was never going to be the same.”
