Michael Jordan can be as blunt as blunt can get and Julian Edelman found that out the hard way upon his first time meeting him.
On the latest episode of his “Games With Names” podcast, the former Patriots wide receiver recounted a story just before New England’s Super Bowl XLIX matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. He recalled how he saw both Jordan and Derek Jeter a week before the big game against the Seahawks.
Edelman remembers Jeter being “charming” and the two talking but Jordan was “standoffish” and didn’t say anything to him until he needed to give him some advice.
“As soon as the conversation’s about to end, like five minutes in, I’m about to leave, Jordan comes up to me and he goes, ‘Hey kid, I got a bunch of money on you. Don’t f— it up,’” Edelman recalled. “And that’s the only thing he said to me.”
The Patriots went on to defeat the Seahawks 28-24 as we all remember that Pete Carroll did not have Marshawn Lynch rush the ball at the goal line and elected to have Russell Wilson throw it which led to a Malcolm Butler interception.
That win was the franchise’s fourth Super Bowl championship.
