Many people are writing off the Dallas Cowboys following the injury to Dak Prescott, but not Phil Simms.
The former NFL quarterback was discussing why he thinks it’s too early to write off the Cowboys when he made quite the bold statement by claiming there “isn’t a huge drop off” between the two quarterbacks.
In fairness to Simms, what he was trying to say (and later explained) was that, while Dak may be the much better quarterback, he feels as though the shift to Rush will help the Cowboys keep things simple, run the ball more, and force all the other players on the team to step up.
He may be right (although I’m personally not buying it), but Edelman was clearly having none of the comparison. Almost immediately after Simms made his “drop off” comment, Edelman hilariously asked, “Who is Cooper Rush?”
Prescott is expected to miss four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his injured right hand. In the meantime, it’ll be Cooper Rush time.
Who is Cooper Rush, you ask…Or, at least, Julian Edelman asks)?

He’s an undrafted quarterback out of Central Michigan who’s been in the NFL for five season (all with the Cowboys), and only started one game. That one start, however, saw him throw for 325 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a winning effort against the Vikings last year.
Can he provide the Cowboys and their fans with an encore in his first start of 2022? We’ll find out on Sunday when Dallas hosts Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
