Little things have always seemed to get to Antonio Brown, whether it be not getting the ball enough during a game or it just might be a certain time of day and he’s not in the mood.
Or, it could be something completely arbitrary as in not being named team MVP. Seriously!
It was just last week when the Pittsburgh Steelers named JuJu-Smith Schuster as the 2018 recipient of the award. That came on the heels of the heartbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16, their 4th loss in five games which took their playoff chances out of their hands.
In that game, Brown was phenomenal, racking up 14 catches for 185 yards and two scores.
In an extensive breakdown of the Steelers-Brown drama, Albert Breer of MMQB revealed that Brown may have become extremely upset and it carried over to the following week that led to him ultimately being suspended for Week 17.
“He was just frustrated,” said one source. “The MVP vote—it’s those things that set him off. He was unreal in New Orleans, we still lost, and the vote comes out and it’s JuJu. So he shows up for work, he’s not voted MVP, he’s in a bad way, and that carried over into the walkthrough.”
The Steelers ultimately won their final game against the Bengals without Antonio Brown, but the Cleveland Browns couldn’t defeat the Baltimore Ravens and the Steelers were ultimately eliminated from playoff contention.
