JuJu Smith-Schuster caused a wave of controversy on Valentine’s Day when he took a swipe at Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry on social media. The 26-year-old wished fans a happy Valentine’s Day with an image of Bradberry, 29, and a caption “I’ll hold you when it matters most.”
His post caused AJ Brown and Tyreek Hill to fire back at him. The Chiefs wide receiver’s post alluded to the controversial holding call on Bradberry that effectively handed the Chiefs a Super Bowl victory last Sunday. With less than two minutes left in Sunday’s big game, the referees ruled Bradberry illegally held Smith-Schuster. It allowed the Chiefs to waste an incredible amount of more time before kicking a game-winning field goal.
While the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated its second championship in four years on Wednesday in front of the hometown fans, Smith-Schuster was asked about his actions online.
“I mean it’s Valentines Day,” Smith said. “At the end of the day, man, he’s a great player. I respect him but, yeah, we just got to move on, baby.”
The Chiefs overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to win their second NFL championship in four years on Sunday.
Mahomes claimed the Super Bowl MVP award after logging three touchdown passes, finding Travis Kelce, Kadarius Toney, and Skyy Moore in the end zone.
