Michael Irvin has made some major strides in his defense following a misconduct allegation that saw him removed from the NFL Network’s Super Bowl coverage last week.
Irvin’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, requested video footage from the Phoenix Marriott via a motion filed on Thursday morning in the belief that it will help the former NFL star’s case. The motion was granted by a judge, who ordered that the footage must be sent to Irvin by February 20, per TMZ.
The judge has also ordered that the resort must provide the name of the accuser and anyone else who may have filed a complaint against him. The names of the NFL employees who received the complaints are to be disclosed as well.
McCathern has insisted that the above will exonerate the erstwhile wide receiver, who stands accused of misconduct following an interaction with a female member of hotel staff on February 5.
Eyewitnesses have come to Irvin’s defense with claims that the woman called Irvin over to introduce herself and that their exchange was jovial and harmless. According to the analyst’s attorney, the interaction lasted less than a minute and Irvin went to his room alone and fell asleep.
He was subsequently taken off NFL Network’s coverage of Super Bowl 57.
