Richard Sherman received his first bit of luck in a while on Thursday evening. While appearing before a judge at the King County Court, Sherman was granted a release without bail while his case is ongoing. There are some conditions to his released, however, as he is not allowed to be near his father-in-law, possess a firearm, or consume alcohol. He also had to promise to return to court when necessary.
Prosecutors had originally asked that Sherman’s bail be set at $10,000, but the judge had other ideas. “Mr. Sherman is a pillar in this community, he’s a business owner, a father,” the judge stated. “I’m going to release Mr. Sherman on his own promise that he return to court.”
Here’s a look at the hearing:
Sherman is facing multiple charges, including burglary domestic violence, and DUI. Footage has surfaced of Sherman attempting to barge into his father-in-law’s home, where he was reportedly maced by Raymond Moss, the father of Sherman’s wife Ashley Moss.
Sherman then had to be taken down by multiple officers and a police K9. He was arrested and detained at the King County Correctional Facility. Sherman has also been dealing with mental health issues for the past few months. And it has gotten so bad that friends have flown in to visit and attempt to comfort the free agent cornerback.
