The Josh Jacobs saga has reportedly taken a new twist amid the player’s holdout.
The running back hasn’t been with the team this offseason, staying away from training camp to no consequence as he hasn’t signed their tag offer.
But, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vincent Bonsignore, who cites “multiple league sources,” Jacobs is preparing to join the team before their first game of the 2023 season and is expected to return to Vegas in the coming weeks.
As mentioned above, the holdout isn’t affecting the RB’s pockets as he isn’t under contract with the team. But that will change once the regular season kicks off.
Jacobs was expected to return at some point, and this report marks the first real indicator of where the player’s intentions lie.
The 25-year-old led the NFL in yards from scrimmage in 2022 and his presence against the Broncos in Week 1 could be crucial.

Meanwhile, it appears things are softening for big-name running backs around the league in recent weeks. Saquon Barkley has agreed to a new deal with the New York Giants, while Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook have both landed on new teams.
Whether Jacobs agrees to play under the tag or he comes to new terms with the Raiders remains to be seen.
The Raiders will play their season opener in three weeks.
