The latest betting odds have taken quite the turn in the Josh Jacobs-Las Vegas Raiders saga.
July 17 was the deadline for NFL teams to sign players assigned the franchise tag to multi-year extensions. The reigning rushing champion and the Raiders were unable to reach an agreement on a long-term deal, however.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Jacobs was seen leaving Las Vegas last week, and he reportedly informed “people close to him that” there aren’t plans to return to Sin City “anytime soon.”
Well, the latest betting odds from the Bovada sportsbook should actually give Raiders fans some optimism that the fan favorite will be back in time for the regular season.
The early odds for Jacobs playing in the Raiders’ Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos are -500, per Rexwell Villas of ClutchPoints. On the flip side, the odds of Jacobs not playing in Las Vegas’ home opener come in at +300.

Jacobs isn’t the only star NFL running back disgruntled with his current situation. Last week, Indianapolis Colts’ Pro Bowler and 2021 rushing champion Jonathan Taylor requested a trade following a meeting with owner Jim Irsay.
Earlier this offseason, Austin Ekeler sought a trade from the Los Angeles Chargers. The two sides reached a compromise, however, with Ekeler receiving a raise on his deal.
Elsewhere,, two-time rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott (released by the Dallas Cowboys earlier this offseason) and four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook (let go by the Minnesota Vikings in June) remain free agents with preseason just around the corner.
