Josh Jacobs is playing with a heavy heart this weekend.
The Las Vegas Raiders running back will go for the NFL rushing title against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, per the request of his father. He had been away from the team since Wednesday to attend to his ailing father, who had to spend the week in the hospital after undergoing emergency heart surgery, per the NFL Network.
For the game against the Chiefs, he could be seen wearing “pops” on his eyeblack on his face.
Jacobs’ six-year-old son was the one who found his grandfather in pain and called 911. Marty Jacobs underwent surgery Wednesday, so the phone call may have saved his life.
Jacobs can become the first Raiders player to win the league rushing title since Marcus Allen in 1985.
