With the Las Vegas Raiders 1-3 and looking nothing like a postseason contender, expect Josh Jacobs’ name to be mentioned aplenty in trade rumors leading up to the Oct. 31 deadline.
The Raiders and Jacobs were unable to agree on a long-term extension this offseason. Jacobs, who’s eligible to enter free agency next spring, agreed to a one-year deal worth a value of $12 million.
If Vegas is out of the playoff race at the deadline, they’d be wise to trade Jacobs rather than watch the 2022 rushing champion leave for nothing in 2024 free agency. And the Super Bowl hopeful Cincinnati Bengals should be all over this.
Joe Mixon is doing fine with 247 rushing yards and a touchdown, but a more explosive playmaker like Jacobs would take this offense to a new level. Furthermore, a Mixon-Jacobs duo would take some pressure off a Bengals’ offense that’s overly reliant on the passing game.
Cincinnati should offer Las Vegas a 2024 third-round pick and a 2026 fifth-rounder for Jacobs. This would be good compensation for the Raiders, who can’t realistically expect a massive haul for a pending free agent playing a devaluing position.

If Jacobs fares well in Cincy, the Bengals could always extend the Alabama product and make him their RB1 going forward. An offense consisting of Jacobs, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase would make the Bengals that much scarier in a crowded AFC loaded with contenders.
