Josh Jacobs is reported to have hopped on a flight out of Las Vegas this Monday and isn’t planning to return anytime soon.
Jacobs, the NFL’s rushing yards leader in 2022, is among disgruntled running backs in the NFL as he was unable to reach a long-term agreement with the Raiders prior to last week’s deadline for players who were franchise tagged during the offseason. He has not signed the $10.1 million tender either.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the RB has told people close to him he doesn’t plan to report to training camp and won’t return to Vegas in short order.
Jacobs’ decision will not leave him susceptible to any fines, despite the fact that he will not report for training camp this week, given that he is not under contract with Vegas.
The team chose not to pick up the fifth-year option on Jacobs last year ago. And he failed to convince them he was worthy of proper consideration even after recording 1,653 rushing yards on 340 carries, as well as 12 touchdowns. Jacobs also started every game for the Raiders in 2022.
His exploits earned him a second Pro Bowl selection, as well as a first All-Pro nod.

With him gone, the Raiders have carriers Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden left.
Jacobs, 25, has rushed for a total of 4,740 yards and 40 touchdowns since getting drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
