The new NFL collective bargaining agreement will have an updated marijuana policy and it made everyone on social media immediately think of Josh Gordon, who has caught several suspensions because of his use of the sticky icky.
Yet still, the free agent WR will still have to abide by the old rules to get back in the league.
On Thursday, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler dropped the news that Gordon has every intention on playing in 2020, and if the league reinstates him, he’d be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.
Gordon spent the first half of the 2019 season with the New England Patriots before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks, but midway through his stint, he got suspended for violating the NFL’s policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse. It was yet another blow to his career that has seen him get suspended six times since the 2013 season.
Under the approved CBA, there will be no suspensions for positive tests, however, any violations of the policy committed by a player who has been reinstated can result in another suspension, so Gordon and others won’t be getting a lifeline with the new CBA intact.
The 28-year-old caught 27 passes for 426 yards receiving and one touchdown in 11 games for the Seahawks and Patriots in 2019.
