Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen defended teammate and kicker Tyler Bass following the club’s devastating loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bass missed a game-tying 44-yard attempt with less than two minutes to go in the Bills’ Divisional Round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. KC got the ball back and ran out the clock to reach their sixth straight AFC Championship Game.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Allen emphasized that the Bills lost as a team, and that it wasn’t strictly on Bass.
“I wish it wouldn’t have been put in that situation,” Allen said. “You win as a team, you lose as a team. One play doesn’t define a game, it doesn’t define a season. People are gonna be out there saying that, we’ve gotta be there for him. We execute a couple plays prior…probably singing a different tune right now.”
Allen is right, they simply did lose as a time. The defense again failed to contain Patrick Mahomes and a vulnerable Kansas City offense, for starters. Secondly, Sean McDermott has to be kicking himself for that awful fake punt call in the fourth quarter.
