NFL fans were treated to a back-and-forth playoff showdown between the Bills and Chiefs that felt endless. It ended on a sour note for many of us.
Just as quickly as the Chiefs scored, the Bills answered, as the teams went back and forth until they had to go to overtime thanks to Patrick Mahomes and his brillance with just 13 seconds to play in regulation.
That see-saw action would end right there as Mahomes drove Kansas City 75 yards in just eight plays to end the game 42-36 and send Kansas City to the AFC championship game. Per NFL overtime rules, if the team with possession to start overtime scores a touchdown on its first drive, the game is over.
That sucks.
The Chiefs won the toss and immediately scored, preventing Josh Allen and the Bills from having a chance to respond. However, you didn’t hear any complaints from Josh Allen when asked about it.
“The rules are what they are and I can’t complain,” Allen said after the game. “If it was the other way around we’d be celebrating. We didn’t make enough plays tonight.”

“Obviously, it sucks the way it happened,” he continued. “We wanted to win that game. We had our opportunities. [I was] taking it all in and holding on to the feeling and making sure that we don’t feel like this again, like I said back-to-back years in the same spot. It’s tough to take in, but it’s part of the game.”
Josh Allen played an outstanding game, throwing for 329 yards and four touchdowns. That 13 seconds his defense couldn’t hold is going to haunt the team all offseason.
