Jordan Whitehead is a whole lot richer following his monster performance versus the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
The New York Jets safety’s trio of interceptions was likely overshadowed by Aaron Rodgers’s injury, which should continue to be a talking point for the rest of the week. But they were all instrumental in getting NY a much-needed win.
The 26-year-old picked the ball off Josh Allen three times, with two of his interceptions turning into points for his team as they got a field goal from one of them and a game-tying touchdown from another.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Whitehead triggered a clause in his contract that will see him earn an additional $250,000. What’s incredible about this is he had an entire season to do so but got them all checked off in a single game.
The player told reporters he believed he would come up with such a performance as he kept speaking about it several days leading up to the game.
“Something like this, you got to talk about it, you got to talk about it during the week, believe that you’re going to do it,” he said, per the New York Post. “That’s where it comes from.”
