Jordan Poyer canceled his annual charity golf event on Saturday after multiple teams pulled out because of its planned location.
The Buffalo Bills safety had the event scheduled for next month and it was set to take place at former United States President Donald Trump’s Trump National Doral Golf Club in South Florida. However, according to Poyer, some of the participants and sponsors withdrew “due to external pressures.”
“Unfortunately, the location of the event led to a few sponsors and golfers withdrawing at the last minute due to external pressures,” he wrote on Instagram. “While it’s disappointing, I respect their decision. Nevertheless, we will persevere.”
Poyer also claimed to have received some backlash from certain guests and sponsors.
His wife, Rachel Bush commented on his post, as you can see below:
Rachel also took to Twitter to post the following message about the canceled event:

The Bills star did not reveal how many sponsors or teams withdrew.
According to Buffalo News, the ECMC Foundation was supposed to be a beneficiary, though Poyer described them as a “big sponsor.”
“ECMC Foundation was fortunate to be a beneficiary of Jordan Poyer’s golf tournament in Florida,” Susan Gonzalez, the foundation’s executive director, told Buffalo News in a letter. “Although the Foundation was not a sponsor, we have had an excellent partnership with Jordan and we respect his decision to cancel his tournament; we hope he will consider supporting us in his future events.”
This is hardly a first for Trump as it pertains to losing events at one of his courses.
The PGA of America moved the 2022 PGA Championship from his course in Bedminster, New Jersey after the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in January of 2021.
The R&A also said recently that it won’t be hosting a British Open at Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland as long as he remains owner.
The former President’s courses have played host to multiple LIV Golf events.
As for Poyer, the 32-year-old signed a two-year deal worth $12.5 million with the Bills this offseason after registering 63 tackles and four interceptions in 12 games in 2022.
