The Miami Dolphins will not be acquiring Jonathan Taylor today as the Indianapolis Colts have decided to keep the disgruntled running back around for the time being.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts did not receive what they felt was a fair offer for Taylor and will not be trading him this Tuesday, having considered today a loose deadline to deal their All-Pro player.
Taylor is now expected to remain on the physically unable to perform list, which means he will miss the first four games of the upcoming 2023 NFL season. The placement rules him out of games against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, and Los Angeles Rams.
The Dolphins were thought to be confident they would get the RB after missing out on Dalvin Cook, but they still have a pretty solid group even after cutting Myles Gaskin today.
The Colts’ next best opportunity to trade the wantaway star could be before the trade deadline on October 31. There’s also the option of franchise-tagging him and attempting another trade.
