The Miami Dolphins are probably upset by the latest developments coming out of Indianapolis as their running back target, Jonathan Taylor, is set to remain put for the time being.
The Colts granted Taylor permission to seek a trade earlier this month as he remains at odds with management over a satisfactory contract. The team was hoping to trade him by Tuesday but, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, did not receive an offer they felt offered equal value and are not trading him.
Taylor will remain on the physically unable to play list and will miss at least the first four games of the 2023 season.
The Dolphins, meanwhile, had the most interest in signing the player. They released running back Myles Gaskin on Tuesday and it was later reported that they agreed to terms on a reworked deal with wide receiver Cedric Wilsonson.
The deal will see the wideout earn $5 million next season. He also has the opportunity to make another $2.5 million in add-ons.
It also saves the Fins $3 million in cap space, which would help their case in Taylor-related affairs. But it could take them up to October to trade for the running back given the Colts’ decision.
