The Jonathan Taylor trade saga in Indianapolis has taken an unexpected twist, according to FOX Sports’ NFL insider Jay Glazer.
Taylor requested a trade from the Colts two months ago, but he remains a member of the AFC South club as he nears his season debut. According to Glazer’s latest report, there isn’t much of a market for the 2021 rushing champion right now.
“Right now, there are no offers on the table for a trade,” Glazer said. “The Colts are hoping that this relationship can continue to mend, and he can play with Anthony Richardson.”
The 24-year-old Taylor is in the final year of his rookie contract. If the Colts are out of the postseason race leading up to the deadline, it certainly makes sense to deal the Wisconsin product rather than lose him for nothing in 2024 free agency.
But the AFC South has no clear-cut team to beat through four weeks. If Shane Steichen’s Colts want to make a run for the postseason, then it makes sense to keep their top offensive weapon to complement their dual-threat rookie quarterback in Anthony Richardson.
