The Miami Dolphins reportedly might have competition in trade talks for Indianapolis Colts’ star running back Jonathan Taylor.
ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported Monday that he believes “a second team” aside from the Dolphins will be “involved” in trade discussions for Taylor. The 24-year-old is entering the final season of his rookie contract.
Taylor requested a trade from the Colts last month following a meeting with team owner Jim Irsay. Last week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Colts gave their star RB permission to look for a trade.
Miami has been widely considered a front-runner for Taylor’s services ever since his trade request. The club hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Jay Ajayi, who surpassed the mark back in the 2016 season.
The Dolphins’ leading rusher last year, Raheem Mostert had 891 yards and three touchdowns. But considering his age (31) and recent injury history, it certainly makes sense for Miami to look at bringing in an explosive back like Taylor to round out the offense.
