Add Jonathan Taylor to the list of disgruntled star running backs looking for a change of scenery.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 2021 rushing champion has requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts following a meeting with team owner Jim Irsay. The 24-year-old Taylor is entering the final season of his rookie contract.
This report came soon after Irsay said that an extension wasn’t an option for Taylor, per Dave Calabro of WTHR.
It’s not surprising to hear that the meeting between Irsay and Taylor culminated with the latter seeking a trade. On Wednesday, Irsay tweeted the following amid unhappiness from several big-named RBs around the league:

Taylor had a dominant rookie year for the Colts in 2020, recording 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns. A year later, he led the league in both rushing (1,811) and rushing touchdowns (18). Despite missing six games last season, Taylor still finished with 861 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
