Barring a change of heart on either side, the Indianapolis Colts and Jonathan Taylor are sure to part ways ahead of this year’s trade deadline.
The 24-year-old superstar running back requested a trade from the Colts earlier this summer after meeting with owner Jim Irsay. The Colts shopped the 2021 rushing champion leading up to Week 1, but they weren’t content with any of the trade offers.
With Taylor in his contract year, and with the Colts clearly not keen on extending him long-term, it only makes sense for the 2020 second-round pick to be traded to a contender ahead of the 2023 deadline.
BetOnline shared betting odds for Taylor’s next team if the Colts end up trading him. Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens were given the best odds of landing Taylor at +300, followed by the Arizona Cardinals (+400), Chicago Bears (+500) and Miami Dolphins (+500).
Two weeks ago, ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported that the Colts sought superstar wideout Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins in a potential Taylor trade. The Dolphins, of course, were never going to do that.

The Colts placed Taylor on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list ahead of Week 1, automatically ruling him out for the club’s first four games. The earliest Taylor can return is in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.
Indianapolis (0-1) will visit the AFC South rival Houston Texans (0-1) this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST.
