Indianapolis Colts’ star running back Jonathan Taylor is one of the biggest names to follow leading up to this year’s NFL trade deadline.
Taylor requested a trade from the Colts back in July following a meeting with owner Jim Irsay, who made it clear that a contract extension was not in the cards for the 2021 rushing champion. The Colts were actively shopping Taylor ahead of the regular season, but they were unable to agree on a trade for their liking.
The 24-year-old was then placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, keeping him out of action for at least the first four games of 2023. The soonest he can return is in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.
Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP in Philadelphia suggested that the Eagles “revisit” Taylor’s situation in Indianapolis, should they decide to go with a true No. 1 RB.
Kenneth Gainwell was the Eagles’ lead running back in their season opener against the New England Patriots on Sunday, totaling 54 yards on 14 carries. However, Gainwell was ruled out for the club’s Week 2 Thursday night home game against the Minnesota Vikings with a rib injury.

Adding Taylor to a unit consisting of MVP runner-up Jalen Hurts and star wideouts DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown could help take this Philly offense to a new level. The Eagles certainly make sense as a landing spot for Taylor, who would have limitless potential running behind the league’s best offensive line.
