The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly received at least one offer for star running back with Jonathan Taylor, but it apparently wasn’t enough for their liking.
According to a report from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have “made at least one offer” for Taylor that the Colts turned down. Jackson noted that the two sides are still talking a trade, and that the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears “reportedly have expressed interest” as well:
“The Dolphins and Colts have continued discussions on a Jonathan Taylor trade, with at least one other team also believed to have made a serious offer to acquire the 2021 All Pro running back.
Miami has made at least one offer, that was not accepted, and continues to engage the Colts in negotiations, according to a source.
Denver and Chicago are among other teams that reportedly have expressed interest. As of Thursday morning, no team was believed to have met Indianapolis’ request for a first-round pick or something comparable in value.”
Taylor requested a trade following a meeting with team owner Jim Irsay last week. On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the 2021 rushing champion received permission from the Colts to seek a trade.
The 24-year-old Taylor is entering the final season of his rookie contract. A second-round pick (41st overall) in 2020, Taylor has surpassed 1,000 yards of offense through each of his first three NFL seasons.
In 2021, he finished as the NFL leader in rushing yards (1,811), rushing scores (18), yards from scrimmage (2,171) and total touchdowns (20). In 11 games last season, Taylor had 861 yards and four touchdowns.
