Recent developments strongly indicate that star running back Jonathan Taylor has already played his final snap for the Indianapolis Colts.
On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Indianapolis gave the 2021 rushing champion “permission to seek a trade.” Taylor is entering the final season of his rookie contract and is eligible to enter free agency in 2024.
The DraftKings sportsbook lists the Miami Dolphins as the favorites to acquire Taylor from Indianapolis at +250. The Chicago Bears have the second-best odds at +400, followed by the Baltimore Ravens at +700.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported back on July 29 that Taylor requested a trade from the club following a meeting with team owner Jim Irsay. Now, it appears to only be a matter of time until Taylor’s wish is met.

The Dolphins certainly make sense as a landing spot for Taylor compared to most other clubs. They haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Jay Ajayi reached the mark in 2016, and their lead RB on the depth chart is the injury-prone 31-year-old Raheem Mostert.
Miami has the league’s best receiving duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Adding one of the game’s elite running backs in Taylor would certainly help take this already-prolific offense to another level.
Taylor led the NFL in both rushing yards (1,811) and rushing touchdowns (18) in the 2021 campaign. Despite missing six games last year, he had 861 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
