Indianapolis Colts’ star running back Jonathan Taylor is one of the top names to follow on the trade market as Week 1 draws closer.
On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the AFC South club granted their star RB “permission to seek a trade.” Taylor, who turned 24 years of age in January, is entering the final season of his rookie deal.
Max Dible of Heavy.com proposed a massive blockbuster trade idea that has the Chicago Bears landing Taylor, which would pair him with one of the game’s top rushing quarterbacks in Justin Fields:
“The Bears have the flexibility to package a couple of non-first-round picks, and potentially include 2023 free agent acquisition D’Onta Foreman, to make a run at Taylor if they so choose.
Foreman has considerable value on a cheap contract coming off of a career year in Carolina. Sending him to Indy along with a 2024 second-round pick and one of Chicago’s fourth-rounders is a deal worth considering for a Bears team that is in the second year of a rebuild, though still has a legitimate chance to compete in the NFC North Division this year.”
For what it’s worth, DraftKings gives the Miami Dolphins the best odds of winning the Taylor sweepstakes at +250, followed by the Bears at +400.

Last season, Fields rushed for 1,143 yards and seven touchdowns. This marked the second-most rushing yards by a quarterback in a season, with Lamar Jackson still holding the record set in 2019
(1,206).
Foreman rushed for a career-high 914 yards with the Carolina Panthers last season. Khalil Herbert, Chicago’s No. 2 RB behind David Montgomery last season, rushed for 731 yards despite missing four games.
So Chicago already has not one, but three capable 1,000-yard rushers in Fields, Herbert and Foreman. They don’t necessarily need Taylor, but a trade is certainly worth exploring if he can be had for the right price.
Taylor led the NFL in rushing two years ago with 1,811.yards. Having Taylor and Fields teaming up in the ground game would be a terrifying thought for the rest of the league, to say the least.
