Over the past few years, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has been linked to several NFL franchises that include the Seahawks, Lions, and Washington Football Team.
The reports of Bezos eyeing NFL ownership date back to 2018, when CBS Sports reported that Bezos was considering buying an NFL team. The Washington Post then stated Bezos was interested in buying the Seattle Seahawks following the death of its owner, Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen. However, the franchise never went up for sale.
Fast forward to 2021 and it appears Bezos has never been closer to obtaining a football team after what’s been going on with the Washington franchise.
A rumor on Twitter is sparking interest among fans as Twiiter user Rich Borgus claims he spoke with former Raiders head coach Jon Gruden at MGM. Borgus says Gruden told him that Dan Snyder is being pressured to sell the Washington Football Team by other owners amid controversy over emails.
On top of that, Gruden allegedly stated that Bezos is nearing a deal to get the team.
“Just talked to Jon Gruden at MGM, per him Dan Snyder is being pressured to sell the team by other owners around the league. Gruden says Jeff Bezos is nearing a deal to buy the team for $5.8 billion. Expect talks to speed up over the next week. Snyder should be out by week 8.”

Take that rumor with a heavy grain of salt.
According to a report from CBS Sports, Bezos has “become close” with several NFL team owners and has “strong support” inside the league.
As you know, he is currently the world’s richest person. Back in February, he announced that he will step down from his role as Amazon CEO in order to focus on “new products and early initiatives” at the company.
It appears one of those initiatives is getting an NFL team.
