All indications seems to point to Kyler Murray going 1st overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cardinals, who took quarterback Josh Rosen 10th overall a year ago.
That would also mean that Rosen is going to be traded, likely for some picks in this draft and possibly next year’s draft.
If the Cardinals aren’t looking to go that route than maybe they want to trade out of the spot. The Raiders are the most obvious choice; they have four of the first 35 picks, including selections No. 4, No. 24 and No. 27.
Although head coach Jon Gruden has publicly stated he is 100% behind QB Derek Carr, he has already shown a willingness to trade big name players from the teams in his first season back in the Bay Area.
“He’s going to be our quarterback,” he told Jim Trotter. “I’m not going to address all of the rumors. I could care less about the rumors. He threw for 4,100 yards, threw for almost 70 percent (completions) in a very dire, tough circumstance. So I have a lot of confidence in Carr, what he can do with Antonio Brown, with Tyrell Williams, with Trent Brown coming in here to help our offensive line, with a better defense. Yeah, I’m excited about Carr.”
Fast forward to Monday and Jon Gruden and Raiders general manager Mike Mayock reportedly held a secret dinner meeting on Sunday, and were all set to have a private workout with former Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray on Monday.
