Ever since South Florida made the decision to fire football coach Jeff Scott, there has been one coach that has been mentioned to taking the job. That coach would be Jon Gruden.
According to a report, the former NFL head coach has interest in coaching the team.
“I spoke with 2 people very close to the @USFFootball program and also friends with Jon Gruden and I can confirm Gruden Definitely has interest in the USF job. Gruden is very close to many USF boosters. Obviously there are many hurdles to overcome politically. Thoughts?” JP Peterson reports.
Gruden, who resigned from the Raiders after it was revealed he sent numerous offensive emails while employed by ESPN, has a lawsuit pending against the NFL alleging that he was forced out in Las Vegas.
The emails contained racist, misogynistic and anti-LGBTQ language. The NFL alleges that Gruden continued to send similar offensive emails while serving as coach of the Raiders.
College football would likely be the only way Gruden could get back into coaching. Since his 2021 resignation, Gruden has not coached. The last time he coached at the college level was 1989.

The Bulls fired Scott after a 1-8 start to the season, and special teams coordinator Daniel Da Prato will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the year.
If you want to put this program on the map, Gruden is the way to go.
