It has been 20 years since Brad Johnson did the unthinkable and led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory over the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII.
The game plan from that day is now being exposed.
On Twitter, there was an ongoing thread honoring his former Tampa Bay teammate Keenan McCardell as Johnson responded to a fan who impressively identified the play call on one of his Super Bowl touchdown passes to McCardell with photos of the playbook and game plan from the game.
In his first season as head coach in 2002, Gruden guided the Buccaneers to a 12-4 regular-season record and a playoff berth. The team was led by that dominant defense that is still one of the best to ever grace an NFL field.
Gruden’s time in Tampa Bay is particularly notable because he led the Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history. The Buccaneers crushed the Raiders 48-21.
Gruden would coach for several more years, but the team would never get close to the same success. as his first season. They made the playoffs two more times under Gruden in 2005 and 2007 but were unable to advance past the Wild Card round.

After the 2008 season, Gruden was fired by the Buccaneers, ending his tenure with the team. He then transitioned to a career in broadcasting where he stayed until the Raiders brought him out of retirement in 2018. He has since left the job following some old racist, sexist, and homophobic emails that were exposed.
Last month, he was brought in by the Saints to help their new quarterback, Derek Carr, transition to a new team after he had spent the entirety of his career to date with the Raiders organization.
