The 49ers could have had a giant wrench thrown into their offseason. General manager John Lynch spoke with Amazon, which will become a bigger player among the NFL’s broadcast partners, about returning to the booth to broadcast.
Amazon wanted him so badly, that they threw a ridiculous amount of cash his way to make it happen. Lynch was offered $15 million to leave the 49ers for a broadcasting role with Amazon. However, he turned it down.
We now know why. Lynch revealed that he realized he had to stay with the 49ers after their loss to the Rams in the NFC Championship Game.
Lynch began his broadcasting career with Fox in 2008, but then he decided to walk away from the booth after nine seasons to become the 49ers GM in 2017.
The 45-year-old spent 15 years in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos.
