Joe Thomas knew he was a different breed of an athlete as soon as he started playing tackle football. However, it wasn’t until a few years after he retired from the NFL where he eyes would truly be opened to what was going on around him.
The retired Cleveland Browns legend dropped a video on Saturday calling for the end of racism and speaking on his upbringing in a predominately White state of Wisconsin.
He thought that if he did not associate with people with racist ideals or act racist, that he himself wasn’t racist and that racism wasn’t a big deal.
2020 showed him how wrong he truly was.
