Joe Montana’s legendary NFL career was filled with touchdown passes and Super Bowl wins, but never any defensive stops.
He waited until he was well past his prime to grab his first interception after he and his wife confronted an intruder Saturday in his California home and had to wrestle their grandchild from being kidnapped.
Montana took to Twitter after the incident:
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out,” the former San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs star tweeted. “Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well. We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time.”
The woman, later identified as Sodsai Dalzell, was later arrested and faces charges of kidnapping and burglary.
Montana won four Super Bowls with the 49ers.
